Both Jayaram and Lee Zia Jia kept each other close in the opening exchanges of the quarter final clash with the Indian leading the Malaysian by a solitary point at the midgame interval. However, that is as good as it got for the Indian veteran as Lee grabbed the initiative by taking the next five points to open a four point lead. It was a matter of time from then on and the Malaysian sealed the first game by a relatively easy margin of 21-16.
The second game was a sorry one for Ajay as he was nowhere close to Lee as far as the scores are concerned. After leveling at 4-4, Lee went on to take seven more points on the trot to open up a huge seven point lead at the break. From then on it was only going to be a matter of time before the Malaysian completed the rout.
While there was no representation in mixed and women’s doubles category from India. In women’s Singles Sai Uttejitha Rao ,Chukka Mugdha Agrey, Sri Krishna Priya Kudaravalli were of no help either, as they lost their respective matches in earlier matches.
