The BWF Super 500 tournament will mark the return of Saina Nehwal. On the other hand, HS Prannoy will look to continue his good form from the Thomas Cup. Also in action will be two-time Olympic medalist PV Sindhu, who last won a tournament in March, the Swiss Open. She is likely to run into Tai Tzu-ying as the tournament progresses, who is of course her nemesis.
Meanwhile, Saina Nehwal is expected to face tough competition in the first round itself, as she will be up against world No. 19 Kim Ga Eun of South Korea and could also face Sindhu if they both manage to make quarters. Malvika Bansod and Ashmita Chaliha will be seen in action but will start their campaign in the qualifiers.
In the men's singles, B Sai Pranneth will be there with Srikanth and Prannoy. Since last year, Praneeth has been in woeful form and is clearly low on confidence.
In the men’s doubles, Chirag Shetty and Satwiksairaj Rankireddy, have also opted out of the tournament. The duo who played a crucial role in India's win at the Thomas Cup had won the Thailand Open back in 2019.
In the women’s doubles, Gayatri Gopichand and Treesa Jolly will reunite after the former missed the Uber Cup with an injury.
