Taskin Ahmed’s suspension upheld by ICC

Taskin had filed a notice of review on Monday challenging his suspension from bowling in international cricket. According to a , the hearing was conducted on Tuesday by Michael Beloff QC over a teleconference call “that lasted several hours and in which numerous legal challenges were made on behalf of the player.”

“Having carefully considered those arguments and the responses of the ICC, Mr Beloff has now notified all parties concerned of his decision that Taskin’s suspension from bowling in international cricket shall be upheld and indicated that a written reasoned decision will be provided in due course,” said the media release from ICC.

Although the suspension is upheld, Taskin can approach the ICC for re-assessment any time following remedial work on his action.

Taskin and fellow countryman Arafat Sunny were banned from bowling in international cricket on March 19 after the ICC found their actions illegal. The pair was reported by the match officials after Bangladesh’s match against the Netherlands in Dharamsala on March 9.
