Kolkata Knight Riders have signed up New Zealand all-rounder Colin de Grandhomme to as a replacement for the suspended West Indian all-rounder Andre Russell in the upcoming IPL-10. De Grandhomme represented Nagenahira Nagas in the Sri Lanka Premier League this season but this would be his IPL debut.

Russell was a key member of KKR last season, scoring 188 runs and claiming 15 wickets. However, the West Indian was ruled out of the 2017 IPL after he was banned from international cricket for a year. The 28-year-old was charged with violation of the whereabouts clause in the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) rules in January this year.

The 30-year-old Zimbabwe-born De Grandhomme comes in with a good reputation and has played six Tests, nine ODIs and eight T20I.  The Kiwi is known to be a handy lower-order batsman apart from being a fast-medium bowler.

Former champions KKR will begin their 2017 campaign on Friday against Gujarat Lions in Rajkot.
