CoA approves of hike in fee of selectors

Back in 2007, Dilip Vengsarkar had attempted to get the selectors fairly paid for their services. Now in 2018, the Committee of Administrators has decided that the selection panel's remuneration would be increased to 90 lakhs annually as compared to 60 lakhs previously, while the chairman will receive 1 crore rather than 80 lakhs, which has been given now.

Gagan Khoda and Jatin Paranjpe had been removed from their position of selectors as the norms introduced by Lodha reforms made it mandatory for the selection committee to have only three members, having necessarily played Test cricket. The CoA has also advanced the remuneration of junior selection panel to 60 lakhs per annum and that of the chairman to 65 lakhs annually. The women's selection committee will now receive 25 lakhs for services, whereas the remuneration of chief elector has been hiked to 30 lakhs.

Coincidentally, before the news of the hike in fees could reach the selectors, the CoA was informed that a few of the selectors had approached Amitabh Choudhary, acting secretary, desiring a hike in their fees. Considering this, Amitabh had asked Saba Karim, current General manager of cricket operations at BCCI to review the hike in fees of team India's support staff and India A coach Rahul Dravid since 2014-15. After analyzing, he advised a hike of 70% by approximation.

Headed by CAG chief Vinod Rai and Diana Edulji as the other member, CoA had increased the remuneration of BCCI umpires, curators, scores and video analysts by two times along with the fees of international and domestic cricketers.
