India last toured Ireland in 2007 when they played an ODI at Belfast, which the visitors won by nine wickets (D/L method). Although the two sides met frequently at many ODI World Cups since then, India have played Ireland just once in the T20 format when the two sides met in Nottingham during the 2009 ICC World T20.
Earlier, last month, the BCCI announced Indian team's Future Tours Programme (FTP) from 2019 till 2023 and mentioned that the Men in Blue will play a total of 158 international matches during the period. India's tour of Ireland will obviously be a huge boost for the nation that has received Test status last year. After their short tour of Ireland, India are scheduled to play three T20Is, three ODIs and five Tests in England.
While announcing the itinerary for the men's team's tour to Ireland, the All-India Women's Selection Committee for the Women team has also named the ODI squad for India Women's Tour to South Africa. The Indian Women's Cricket Team will play three ODIs against South Africa Women as part of the ICC Women’s Championship (2017-2020) in February.
India Women's ODI squad: Mithali Raj (Captain), Harmanpreet Kaur (vice-captain), Sushma Verma (wicket-keeper), Ekta Bisht, Smriti Mandhana, Poonam Yadav, Punam Raut, Rajeshwari Gayakwad, Jemimah Rodrigues, Jhulan Goswami, Deepti Sharma, Shikha Pandey, Mona Meshram, Pooja Vastrakar, Veda Krishnamurthy, Taniya Bhatia (wicket-keeper)
