VIDEO | Windies pull off a Bangladesh to lose to last ball blunder

Bangladesh is one of the most improved teams in the world in T20Is but after making it to finals of major events, they end up losing to India when winning would have been easier. Today, Windies did the same as they missed two chances to inflict a run out on the last ball of the match.

After the Windies scored a commendable 181/3 in the first innings of the match, it was up to India to chase down the target on a good batting wicket. India, however, got off to a horrible start as they lost their skipper as early as the third over. Three overs later, KL Rahul was back in the hut as well, leaving India in a precarious position of 45/2. Rishabh Pant and Shikhar Dhawan stitched together a cool 130-run partnership before both were dismissed leaving India with one run required off one ball.

While the equation sounded like a very simple one, Fabian Allen, who was bowling the last over, had given away just three runs in five balls. He bowled a short of a length ball at Manish Pandey who hit it towards mid-on but did not get a good connection on it. Allen ran towards the ball but could not collect it cleanly and deflected it away as Pandey was still struggling to cross the midway point of the pitch.

What was worse was the fact Hetmyer was right behind him and would have collected it easily and inflicted a run out to take the game into a Super Over. But as things unfolded, the Windies players, all around the ground, could be seen with their heads in their hands, thinking about what could have been.
