Women’s cricket team T20I captain and ODI captain Harmanpreet Kaur and Mithali Raj respectively, met the BCCI officials post the Women’s T20 World Cup. The meeting was held to sort out the controversy that erupted after Mithali Raj was excluded from the semifinal match that India lost.

The Harmanpreet Kaur led Women’s team lost the semifinal match of the Women's T20 World Cup to crash out of the tournament in the Caribbean. Soon after, controversy erupted regarding Mithali Raj not being picked for such an important match despite scoring two half centuries and bagging man of the matches in both the matches at the event.

Harmanpreet Kaur, Mithali Raj, and team manager Trupti Bhattacharya met BCCI CEO Rahul Johri and BCCI General Manager for Cricket Operations, Saba Karim (who is also the in-charge of women's cricket). A report regarding the meeting is due to be submitted to the Committee of Administrators (CoA) after team's coach Ramesh Powar also has a meeting with them.

On the other hand, Diana Edulji who is a member of the Supreme Court appointed CoA, downplayed the controversy stating that too much is being made out of a single decision. She also said that had the result been in India’s favour the decision would not have created so much controversy.

"I think too much is being made out of it. The management made the decision of not changing a winning combination and that backfired. If India had won the game, I am sure nobody would have questioned their decision," Edulji told PTI.

After the World Cup, the women’s team will play their next series in January when the Indian team travels to New Zealand. Both Kaur and Raj are expected to captain the Indian squad in the T20I and ODI series respectively.
