Rahul Johri, the CEO of the Board of Control for Cricket in India, has been accused of alleged sexual harassment on social media by an anonymous user. The alleged incident had taken place at a time when Johri had not yet started working for BCCI but yet CoA took note of the allegation.

The "Me Too" movement swept across the western world a few months ago but for India new wave seems to be getting stronger and this time not only people from the film industry are being accused but other industries’ peoples are also brought to the fore as perpetrators.

A tweet by author Harnidh Kaur posted the allegations by an unnamed victim, who claimed to be an ex-colleague of Rahul Johri at the previous place of his employment. The supreme court-appointed Committee of Administrators took note of the allegation against Johri.

"The reports disclose allegations of sexual harassment made against Mr. Johri, by an unnamed person through a Twitter handle. The allegations also relate to his previous employment with a large media house," said the CoA statement, Cricbuzz reports.

Rahul Johri joined BCCI as its CEO in the year 2016 but the allegation the alleged victim is levelling pertains to his previous employment when he worked for a large media conglomerate.

"Though the said allegations do not pertain to his employment with the BCCI, the Committee of Administrators of the BCCI has deemed it appropriate to seek an explanation from Mr Johri in relation to the allegations.

The MeToo movement in India was ignited after actress Tanushree Dutta accused the veteran actor Nana Patekar of alleged sexual harassment. Then it spread like a fire and many have been accused so far.

"He has been asked to submit his explanation within a week. The future course of action will be considered on receipt of his explanation," CoA statement added.
