AB de Villiers has asserted that it is very difficult to pick a favourite team in the upcoming World Cup in England and Wales. De Villiers, who called it a day from international cricket, has also said that the teams participating are very competitive, which also makes the tournament an open one.

With the World Cup being just a few weeks away, the anticipation for the same is on a fever pitch. South African great and one of the best batsmen to have embraced the game, AB de Villiers, has said that he finds it difficult to pick a favourite for the World Cup as all the teams are equally capable of winning the title.

“It is very difficult to pick a favourite, I think there are a lot of teams capable and that makes it a very open tournament. India have won the Champions Trophy in England, Pakistan won the last one there, Australia have won a lot of World Cups, England are their own team, New Zealand always do well at World Cups, South Africa have a very good bowling attack -- that's six teams already that I feel can win! I am simply looking forward to watching some amazing games through the tournament,” de Villiers said, reported Sportstar.

De Villiers shocked the entire fraternity after retiring last year. He spoke about his desire to play in the World Cup but has no regret on his retirement whatsoever and is totally satisfied.

“I look back at my decision (to retire) last year with 100 per cent satisfaction. It would have been nice to play the World Cup again I am very happy where I am at the moment. There is no regret,” de Villiers added.

De Villiers has been in good form for Royal Challengers Bangalore and continues to dominate this format with his elegance and ability to hit in every part of the ground.
