Boult looked deadly for the Indian batsmen as he got rid of Shikhar Dhawan and MS Dhoni inside the first 10 overs to leave the Indians reeling at 18/4 at one stage. However, his bowling was not the only thing to display in the series against the Men in Blue as he came up with an excellent fielding effort to effect a run-out against the Rohit Sharma-led side on Sunday.
Yuzvendra Chahal had just arrived at the crease after Bhuvneshwar Kumar’s dismissal on the previous ball and India had two more balls to face with only a wicket in hand. Boult bowled a fuller length ball on the stumps which Chahal jammed back to the bowler and there was no way that the batsmen could have crossed for a single. However, Shami, who was at the non-striker’s end, wanted the strike and had come down charging.
Meanwhile, Boult collected the ball in his follow-through and ran towards the stumps before making a diving effort at the stumps to disturb the furniture pretty much like Rhodes. If you remember, Jonty used to go on a parallel motion with the ground and with the body perfectly hanging in the air, he used to run batsmen out, even before they could understand the dynamics of his style. The Shami dismissal by Boult was exactly that, but the audacity with which he effected it, it even caught Shami by surprise. The Indian player stopped mid-way and didn't even try to return to the crease.
