India vs Australia | Ambati Rayudu reported for suspect bowling action after Sydney ODI

Ambati Rayudu has been reported for suspect bowling action by the on-field officials after the conclusion of the first ODI against Australia at the Sydney Cricket Ground. The part-time bowler had bowled two overs in the match spending 13 runs at an economy of 6.5 and had gone wicketless as well.

After leaving out Kedar Jadhav for the game, India didn't have any other option than giving Rayudu to bowl few overs in the middle-order, but the experiment rendered unsuccessful after Aussie batters found the run-scoring easy against the Hyderabad boy. Kohli took him off bowling, but ICC has reported a suspect bowling action.

“The match officials’ report, which was handed over to the India team management, cited concerns about the legality of the 33-year-old off-spinner’s bowling action,” an ICC media release said.

“Rayudu’s bowling action will now be scrutinised further under the ICC process relating to suspected illegal bowling actions reported in Tests, ODIs and T20Is.”

Rayudu is not a regular bowler in the Indian side and bowls very rarely in International matches for India. However, he is required to undergo testing within 14 days, and, during this period, he is permitted to continue bowling in international cricket until the results of the testing are known.”
