Ashes 2019 | Hopeful of lifting urn at the Oval in September, says Sam Curran

English all-rounder Sam Curran believes that England's historic World Cup Triumph will help boost the team's confidence in the upcoming Ashes series, where they will step on to face a determined Australian team. England clinched their maiden World Cup title under dramatic circumstances, and Curran believes that the triumph will have a positive effect on all English players heading into the Ashes. 

"I don't think I'm alone in saying that it's probably the greatest cricket match ever and for that to be the World Cup final was incredible. That will provide a buzz for everyone across English cricket going into the Ashes," Curran was quoted as saying by Times of India. 

"Days like Sunday get everyone, whether they were involved or not, more excited and desperate to do well so I'm sure it will rub off as we head into the Test part of the summer," he added.

Curran, who has played nine Tests for England claiming 15 wickets, recently played for the England Lions side against Australia 'A', and starred with both bat and ball, as he scored a fifty in each innings to go along with his six-wicket haul in the first innings. However, in all fairness, the upcoming Ashes series might be the biggest challenge of the Curran's career yet, and the all-rounder admitted that indeed is the case, while also being hopeful of lifting the urn come September. 

"The Ashes are the biggest thing you can play in as an England cricketer, that's what I've always felt. Hopefully, we can be lifting the urn at the Oval in September," he said. 

The 21-year-old has been included in both England's squad to face Ireland on July 24 and the pre-Ashes camp which will follow that, and will certainly be hoping to make his mark in one of the biggest stages the sport has to offer.
