Mumbai Indians succumbed to their second loss in three games today when Kings XI Punjab chased down the 177 run target with more than an over to spare. While the result leaves Mumbai reeling in the bottom half of the table, they were handed another blow with their skipper being charged with breaching the IPL’s Code of Conduct by maintaining a slow over rate in the second innings.
"Mumbai Indians captain Rohit Sharma has been fined after his team maintained a slow over-rate during their VIVO Indian Premier League (IPL) 2019 match against Kings XI Punjab in Mohali on 30th March 2019," read an IPL media release.
But since this was the first offence committed by the three time winners this season, Rohit Sharma has escaped a ban and has been let off with just a fine this time around.
"As it was his team’s first offence of the season under the IPL’s Code of Conduct relating to minimum over-rate offences, Mr. Sharma was fined Rs 12 lakh."
