Tamil Nadu Cricket Association has named the squad for the upcoming Syed Mushtaq Ali T20s and TNPL fame G Periyaswamyhas been included in the Tamil Nadu squad after being ignored for the Vijay Hazare Trophy. Dinesh Karthik has been named as the skipper of the side with Vijay Shankar as his deputy.

Playing for Chepauk Super Gillies in the Tamil Nadu Premier League, G Periyaswamy shot to the fame with his Malinga-like action. His bowling was pretty effective for the champion team, with his 21 wickets in the tournament being the cornerstone of the team's success. While he was ignored for the Vijay Hazare Trophy, he has rightfully found his maiden call-up to the squad, to be led by Dinesh Karthik.

Vijay Shankar will be Karthik's deputy for the tournament set to be held in Thiruvananthapuram from November 8 to 17. The team includes international cricketers Ravichandran Ashwin, Murali Vijay, and Washington Sundar, who will join the squad after the conclusion of the India-Bangladesh T20 series.

Left-handed opener Abhinav Mukund, who had a great run of form in the Vijay Hazare Trophy surprisingly didn't find a place in the team for the T20 tournament while Washington Sundar will join the team after the completion of India’s Twenty 20 series against Bangladesh.

Squad: Dinesh Karthik (c), Vijay Shankar (vice-captain), Murali Vijay, N Jagadeesan, C Hari Nishaanth, B Aparajith, M Shahrukh Khan, R Ashwin, M Ashwin, R Sai Kishore, T Natarajan, G Periyaswamy, K Vignesh, M Mohammed, J Kousik.
