The Delhi and District Cricket Associations (DDCA) have confirmed that the Indian international trio of Shikhar Dhawan, Navdeep Saini, and Rishabh Pant have made themselves available to play in the Vijay Hazare Trophy. Delhi will open their campaign against Vidarbha on September 24.

In what comes as great news for Indian fans around the country, the trio of Shikhar Dhawan, Navdeep Saini and Rishabh Pant might feature for Delhi in the Vijay Hazare Trophy, which is set to commence from September 24. While Pant might leave the tournament after a few matches due to the imminent start of the Test series between India and South Africa, Dhawan and Saini are expected to play the entirety of the competition.

"It's really heartening to see that Rishabh, Shikhar and Navdeep opted to play for Delhi at the first available opportunity," DDCA president Rajat Sharma was quoted as saying by Times of India.

Sharma expressed his delight over the players showing their interest in playing domestic cricket and also said that he was confident of seeing the likes of Virat Kohli and Ishant Sharma also play domestic cricket for Delhi someday should they be completely free of international commitments.

"Virat and Ishant also want to contribute towards helping Delhi cricket and I am sure they will also take the field whenever possible.

It was a promise they made to all Delhi cricket fans at the Annual Awards recently. It shows that DDCA and the players are on the same page to take Delhi cricket to greater heights and win titles," Sharma added.

Delhi are placed in the Elite Group B and will play Vidarbha in their first match on September 24.
