Reports | BCCI to evaluate reasons if Suresh Raina wishes to return to CSK bubble

A BCCI official has clarified that if Suresh Raina ever wishes to go back to the CSK camp once again, the board will have to evaluate the reasons for him leaving the bubble in the first place. The Board is unsure if Raina has sought counselling after citing his stress due to the bubble being unsafe.

Suresh Raina pulled out of the Indian Premier League citing personal reasons and later clarified that he kept the safety of him first after the Covid-19 cases piled up in the CSK camp. Add to that the family tragedy in Punjab’s Pathankot played a part as well, but Raina kept his options open by saying he wishes to go back to the CSK camp once again after things fall in place. However, the obstacle on his way could be the BCCI, who are now not sure if Raina can join the CSK bubble once again.

"What the BCCI will have to do is evaluate what exactly were the reasons. If it's about his family, it's his personal reason. If it was a rift with MS (Dhoni), then it's CSK's internal issue. If he came back because of depression, then it's a mental issue. We can't let him go if he's depressed. Who'll be responsible if something goes wrong?" a BCCI official told ToI.

Raina is not the only CSK player to leave the camp as Harbhajan Singh, on Friday, announced that he wouldn’t be able to join the squad for personal reasons. Mumbai Indians’ Lasith Malinga also pulled himself out of the IPL to attain his ailing mother in Sri Lanka. Chennai Super Kings, however, haven’t confirmed any replacements for the duo as of now, possibly keeping the slot for Raina available if he wants to join the squad later.
