IPL 2024 | Twitter reacts to acrobatic Kishan competing for India’s World Cup spot with jaw-dropping catch

The hard work behind the stumps often goes overlooked in a cricket contest. However, Mumbai Indian’s Ishan Kishan ensured to steal the spotlight with the gloves on by grabbing a stunner to send Prabhsimran Singh packing for a golden duck as MI squares off against PBKS in Mullanpur on Thursday.

Being forced to bat first in the new home ground of PBKS, the top three MI batters ensured 54 runs inside the powerplay. Subsequently, Suryakumar Yadav and Rohit Sharma set up for the lower middle order to propel the total to 192 runs in 20 overs. Chasing an above-par total, as stated by Surya himself during the post-match ceremony, the tourists got an early breakthrough, courtesy of a splendid catch from Kishan to send Prabhsimran for a golden duck.

On the third ball of the first over, Gerald Coetzee dished a back-of-a-length delivery, shaped down the leg stump line. The right-hander tried to flick at the negative line delivery but ended up with an inside edge towards the left of the wicketkeeper. The ball was going far down the leg stump line and Kishan had to throw his body towards his left with a full stretched effort. The gloveman managed to maintain his poise after grasping the ball with firm hands, leaving the Twitterverse to question his chances for the T20 World Cup spot in the USA and West Indies.
