As an athlete, it is important to bury the past and aim forward towards the upcoming goals. But Nitish Rana chose the other way, as the former Delhi captain turned Uttar Pradesh cricketer engaged in a fiery exchange with current Delhi skipper Ayush Badoni during the SMAT quarter-final.

Batting first, Delhi got off to a flying start courtesy of Yash Dhull and Priyansh Arya. Following their 81-run stand, skipper Badoni stepped in at No. 3 and tried to build a formidable total in the second quarter-final. In the process, he engaged in a verbal spat with former  Delhi captain Nitish Rana, who was representing the Uttar Pradesh unit.

After a double on the second ball of the 13th over off Rana, Badoni tried to come down the ground as the bowler was about to release the ball. Seeing the batter’s shimmy down, the part-timer stopped. When Rana reloaded, Badoni pulled off this time, causing a sudden silence at the venue. Right after, the right-hander whipped a fuller one from Rana towards long on for a single and the duo engaged in a fierce fiery exchange. Rana strolled towards Badoni and mouthed a few words before the latter responded. As a result, the umpire intervened and stopped the verbal brawl, prompting the Twitterverse into a discussion.
