Keeping your fielders on their toes when the opposition is running rampant is an underrated aspect of Test match captaincy but one Rohit Sharma excels at. The Indian skipper was at it again when commanding young gun Yashasvi Jaiswal in the Boxing Day Test at the MCG in his typical fashion.

Australia got off to a great start in the Boxing Day Test with both openers, debutante Sam Konstas and Usman Khawaja scoring half centuries. Having finally gotten rid of Khawaja, India wanted to pile on the pressure and added a forward short leg. Yashasvi Jaiswal was handed the responsibility of doing so but according to his skipper he was not doing a stellar job.

The stump mic picked up on the conversation as Rohit, who hails from Mumbai, told his Mumbai teammate in a proper Mumbai tone to look alive during the game. “Neeche bethke reh. Jab tak ball khelega nahi, uthne ka nahi. Neeche bethke reh (Stay in the crouching position. Till the batter hits his shot, do not get up. Stay in the crouching position),” Rohit told Jaiswal with a proper Mumbai swag.

The Twitterati picked up on the assignment of duties and had a few words of their own.
