CSK vs GT | Twitter reacts as Thala's stardom continues as fan breaches ground to meet Dhoni

‌In India, cricket is synonymous with religion and few players are worshipped just like a god. Such was the scene in the game between Chennai Super Kings and Gujarat Titans where a fan intruded the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad just to meet Mahendra Singh Dhoni amidst Chennai’s chase.

The Gujarat Titans enjoyed a stellar performance as Shubman Gill and B Sai Sudharsan amassed 210 runs together, each securing a century and propelling the home team to a formidable 231/3 within 20 overs. However, fortunes shifted for the visiting team as they lost openers Rachin Ravindra and Ruturaj Gaikwad during the powerplay. Nonetheless, Daryl Mitchell and Moeen Ali took charge, forming a strong partnership of 109 runs. Despite their efforts, wickets continued to fall with the dismissals of Shivam Dube and Ravindra Jadeja. In the slog overs, MS Dhoni stepped in to bat, but the game momentarily halted as a fan breached the field to meet Dhoni during the final over, adding an unexpected twist to the match.

Following a couple of sixes over deep mid-wicket and deep square leg against Rashid Khan in the first two balls of the contest’s last over, an intruder trespassed into the field to touch the feet of Dhoni. The invader surprised the 42-year-old by sprinting towards the center of the field. But on approaching near the former CSK captain, he was shooed away by Dhoni and the Chepauk security came to the fore, trying to move him away for an unnecessary halt in play. The Twitterverse was evident in spotting this incident and this is how they reacted to it.
