SRH vs PBKS | Twitter loses it as Cummins rescues blanked out Ishan by finding camouflaged ball

Modern cricket's deepening ties with the world of advertising often lead to quirky moments on the field. A light-hearted instance unfolded during the clash between Sunrisers Hyderabad and Punjab Kings, where Ishan Kishan was amusingly thrown off by a field-level ad mat that caused some confusion.

‌Sunrisers Hyderabad had a tough time this season after four consecutive losses as they prepared to face Punjab Kings. The visitors' skipper, Shreyas Iyer, won the toss and chose to bat first on a batting-friendly pitch in Hyderabad. Pat Cummins, the home skipper, handed the ball to Mohammad Shami to start the proceedings.

A light moment came on the second ball of the over. Shami bowled a good-length delivery around off, clocking at 136 kmph. Punjab opener Prabhsimran Singh drove it straight back past the bowler. Ishan Kishan was stationed at mid-off who ran after it and stopped it with a dive. However, he couldn’t locate the ball because the white cork blended with the white advertisement mat on the field. Confused, Ishan waited for a while before Cummins ran from mid-on and spotted the ball. By the time he picked it up, the batters had completed two runs.

To add to the drama, there was a short run as Priyansh Arya didn’t touch the crease while taking the second run. The incident quickly became a talking point on social media, with fans amused by the chaos on the field.
