DC vs KKR | Twitter taken aback as pilot Dushmantha Chameera takes flight to take a screamer

Fast bowlers are often admired for their speed and skill with the ball rather than their exploits on the field. But Dushmantha Chameera proved all those notions wrong as he dived full length to take a screamer to dismiss Anukul Roy at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi on Tuesday.

‌In a mid-table tussle in the IPL 2025, Kolkata Knight Riders went on the rampage after being put in to bat first as they toyed with the Delhi Capitals’ bowling attack to sit pretty at 111/3 after just nine overs. However, the home side fought back nicely in the game to concede just 70 runs in the next nine overs picking up three more wickets.

But the Jamaican duo of Andre Russell and Rovman Powell threatened to finish the game on a high with 14 runs in the penultimate over. With Mitchell Starc bowling the final over, KKR had a good start with eight runs from the first two balls. But the left arm pacer came back with an excellent yorker to send back Powell before Chameera came up with something special that left the viewers in disbelief.

Starc once again came with a fullish delivery on the pads of new batter Anukul Roy who flicked it over square leg. Just as the batter was about to celebrate his shot the Sri Lankan pacer charged to his left from deep square leg. As though on the runway he took flight smoothly with his extended arms catching the ball mid-air and sliding across the turf to stop just in front of the boundary roping. Anukul couldn’t believe his eyes just as the viewers who were trying to picture what had just happened.

The Twitteratti was in shock and awe with all the folks echoing Chameera’s effort as the catch of the tournament as the KKR innings stopped at 204/9.

 What a catch!

WOW!

He should be awarded!
