IND vs ENG | Twitter reacts to Arshdeep justifies Champions Trophy selection by outwitting Salt for bronze duck

The best way to silence the critics and justify your potential is by putting up performance. Arshdeep Singh seems to have dwarfed all the high-flying questions regarding his Champions Trophy selection for India by outsmarting Phil Salt with an unexpected bouncer in the first T20I.

Playing a T20I in the lead-up to a 50-over ICC event, Indian white ball cricketers were the center of attraction as they squared off against England in the first T20I. Suryakumar Yadav had luck during the toss and elected to field first, trying to capitalise on the thin tinge of grass and moisture. Arshdeep Singh, who has been a part of Champions Trophy selection discussions in the media, took the new ball and immediately let his actions speak for himself.

After an in-swinger and out-swinger to kick off the proceedings at the Eden Gardens, Arshdeep surprised Phil Salt with a back of a length delivery at the stumps. The sudden extra bounce squared up the wicketkeeper-batter who got his blade in a weird position facing the ball. He incurred a top-edge and the ball rocketed upwards before Sanju Samson sprinted towards it and vouchsafed it comfortably. The same Eden Gardens that rooted for Salt in KKR colours few months ago, erupted with applause for the left-arm pacer, prompting the Twitterverse into a frenzy.
