The wicket was quite hard in this game, with a good bounce, allowing good stroke play in the earlier phase of the game. But from the bowler’s perspective, things went quite slowly in the second half of the game owing to the dew factor under the lights.

Batting first, SEO got a brilliant start by the opening pair of Steven Taylor and Kyle Mayers, with the former scoring 41 runs off just 26 balls, with four fours and two sixes and the latter’s 36 off just 22 balls, with three fours and three sixes. Besides these two, Shimron Hetmyer’s 52 runs off just 33 balls, with five fours and two sixes, helped SEO to post 187/6 in the first innings.

While chasing the target, Washington Freedom crossed the line in 18.4 overs with eight balls remaining, courtesy skipper Maxwell’s fiery knock of 64 runs off just 36 balls, with four fours and as many sixes. Besides him, star opener Rachin Ravindra also scored 47 runs off just 31 balls, with six fours and a six. Later in the end, Phillips also contributed with 31 runs off just 20 balls, with three fours and a six to help WSF win by 6 wickets to move forward in the tournament.

Player of the Match

Washington Freedom skipper Glenn Maxwell won the ‘Player of the Match’ award for his match-winning and decisive knock of 64 runs off just 36 balls and a wicket he scalped during the first innings, dismissing Orcas’ skipper Sikandar Raza.
