BAN vs PAK | Twitteratti go insane as Bangladesh end series with big loss

Pakistan destroyed Bangladesh’s clean sweep hopes in the final T20I at Dhaka on Thursday. Sahibzada Farhan introduces himself in the series with a remarkable half-century, with Salman Mirza and Faheem Ashraf create havoc with the ball to ensure they finish a disappointing home-series with a win.

Bangladesh won the toss and elected to field first in the third and final game of the series, with the visitors needing to prove their mettle after poor performances in the first two. Opener Sahibzada Farhan continued to play his shots while Saim Ayub held fort at the other end as Pakistan ended the powerplay with a score of 57/0. Pakistan continued to score runs, and though there were a few chances created, including a missed stumping of Mohammad Haris, they still looked in a solid position reaching 86/1 at the halfway stage. Pakistan had a few quiet overs in the middle after Farhan was dismissed for 63, with Haris’s 14-ball struggle finally ended by Taskin Ahmed in the 14th over. However, cameos from Hasan Nawaz (33 off 17) and Mohammad Nawaz made sure the team reached a competitive total of 178/7 after 20 overs. The Tigers' bowling attack failed to get breakthroughs at crucial junctures, with only Nasum Ahmed (2/22 in four overs) and Taskin Ahmed (3/38 in four overs) looking threatening in the first innings.
The target of 179 was always going to be challenging for the hosts, and Pakistan pacers Salman Mirza and Faheem Ashraf made that clear at the start. Bangladesh were on the back foot straight away in the powerplay, with the score being 29/5. Mirza and Ashraf put on a wonderful display of seam bowling, which included some beautiful nip-backers that crashed into the stumps to dismiss Litton Das, Jaker Ali, and Mahedi Hasan. The hosts continued to lose wickets and were finally bowled out for 104 runs, with Mohammad Saifuddin (35) being the only batter to cross the 30-run mark. The hosts lost the game by 74 runs, ruining the hopes of a clean sweep.
