IPL | Twitter in awe as Corbin Bosch earns Kieron Pollard’s silent applause with audacious effort

Reverse sweeps have made their way into the copybook with the advent of T20 cricket and evolution of batting. But Corbin Bosch pulled out the unthinkable as he knelt down to reverse sweep pacer Prasidh Krishna’s full-length delivery during the MI vs GT game at the Wankhede Stadium on Tuesday.

‌Mumbai Indians got off to a rollicking start as they raced to 56/2 at the end of the powerplay, aided by some sloppy fielding from GT. However, the hosts lost their way with wickets falling in a heap in the middle overs courtesy of some excellent bowling from the GT bowlers to find themselves at 137/7 after 19 overs.

But Corbin Bosch, who was at the crease with an 18-ball 14 was not done yet and looking to take MI past 150, started Prasidh Krishna’s last over with a wonderful pull over the mid-wicket fence. But what followed was audacious and even took Prasidh Krishna by surprise.

Expecting the bowler to come full on to the wicket off the second ball, the South African all-rounder was ready and just as the ball left the Indian pacer’s arm, he knelt and reverse-swept to go over the third man for his second six of the match. The pace on the ball and Bosch’s quick response along with the unbelievable connection had even MI’s batting coach Kiron Pollard silently admiring the Protean’s effort.

Twitteratti was thrilled to see the South African pull out the unthinkable as they echoed Pollard’s priceless expression.
