ENG vs ZIM | Twitter in mixed feelings as brutal headshot to Brook at slip has teammates in splits

Standing a couple feet away from a leather-cork ball being darted at well-over 50 miles an hour towards a wooden sledgehammer never sounds like a bright idea to begin with, yet that is what sports is all about. Harry Brook, stationed at first slip, learnt the consequences of the same on Saturday.

England continued to cruise to victory on Day 3 of the one-off Test against Zimbabwe as the visitors endured yet another steep collapse after Sean Williams and Ben Curran had combinate to navigate the first 20 overs without damage. The team had stumbled to seven down with 78 runs still required to wipe away the first-innings deficit, having conceded the follow-on the previous evening, with Sikandar Raza the lone specialist batsman remaining at the crease. While the win as expected was proving to be routine, the four-day encounter nearly dealt the Three Lions a major blow for the remainder of the summer even though they never acted like it on the field.

In the 41st over of the innings, Shoaib Bashir jogged in and landed a full delivery wide of the stumps, tempting Raza into a booming drive. The all-rounder managed to make no contact as the Duke's skipped past him but Jamie Smith failed to hold on to the ball either. Instead, the red cherry richocheted off his gloves and flew straight towards the slip cordon, where Harry Brook could only watch with horror-filled eyes as the ball struck him square on the forehead. The York instantly collapsed prone to the ground and his teammates rushed in to check, only to find the youngster guffawing before he sprung back to his feet.

With no damage done, the Englishmen let themselves see the funny laside of things as the likes of Ben Stokes and Joe Root broke out in laughter, while Brook made no attempt to conceal a wide grin and the occassional fit of giggles. Twitterati was equal bits concerned and entertained. That was scary!

Yeah!

Why?

Haa hi!

Great day for you!

Great game going on!

Hehehe!

Yes he is!

She will love them all!
