Destructive batters are the order of the day in T20 cricket and Heinrich Klaasen showed why he is among the modern-day greats in the shortest format of the game on Sunday. Against KKR, the Protean’s unbelievable range hitting came to the fore as he notched up fifty in 17 balls, his fastest in IPL.

‌Sunrisers Hyderabad openers got off to an excellent start after captain Pat Cummins elected to bat first against Kolkata Knight Riders at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi on Sunday. Abhishek Sharma and Travis Head smashed eight fours and six sixes between them to add 92 runs in under seven overs. With an aggressive start, the SRH management decided to press the gas further, sending Heinrich Klaasen above Ishan Kishan at number three and he rewarded them immediately.

Klaasen rocked back to pull Varun Chakravarthy over square leg in just his third ball to make his intentions clear as SRH aimed to bow out of IPL 2025 on a high. He continued his liking for the mystery spinner with three fours in Varun’s second over, including an audacious forehand-like shot in tennis that went straight over the bowler’s head.

The wicketkeeper-batter then took aim at Harshit Rana tonking the pacer for a four and two sixes in the 12th over to bring up his fifty in just 17 balls, his fastest in IPL, to power SRH to 174/1 with eight overs left to play. Twitter folks, just like the audience on the ground, were in awe of the South African’s power hitting as SRH looked in realistic distance to become the first team to go past the 300-run mark in IPL.
