No crazy kid celebrations if we score, says Mourinho

Mourinho had famously celebrated Potro's winning goal against Manchester United at Old Trafford in 2004 by running down the touchline in celebration, but has hinted at having mellowed down with age.

"I have the maturity to control the emotion. If my team score a goal am I going to celebrate like a crazy kid? No. Am I going to have a negative reaction if the crowd has something negative with me? No," Mourinho said at the pre-match press conference.

Mourinho's only previous trip to Stamford Bridge as opposition boss was with Inter when he got the better out of his former team 1-0 thanks to a Samuel Eto goal. This time, however, he returns to London for the first time since he was relieved of his duties last December.

Mourinho, however, did not speak negatively about the club that gave him his first taste of English football.

"When some managers leave clubs, they like to 'wash the dirty clothes', to go back and speak and speak and speak about what happened. I leave clubs with a very good feeling. I gave everything to the club. I want to keep the good memories - and at Chelsea I had so many. The other things - I don't forget, I keep. But I keep it to myself," the 53 year-old said.

Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich appointed Mourinho manager twice and was rewarded with the league title on both occasions. However, the Russian billionaire had sacked him both times.

“We always had the relationship of owner-manager. It was a very respectful relationship but he was never my friend. We were never close to each other," Mourinho said.

"What do I expect? I don't know. They could think about me, remember our great relationship and have a good reaction. They could look at me and say 'for 90 minutes he is Manchester United manager and he is playing against us, so he is not someone we like'. I will always respect them," Mourinho said of his possible reception at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea manager Antonio Conte said his predecessor deserved a warm welcome during his Stamford Bridge visit.

"I have great respect for him. He won three championships and I think he was an important man for the club.I think he deserves a good reception, because he wrote with the club, with his players, with the staff, part of the story of this club," said the Italian.
