Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy has revealed that Tottenham were unable to sell the players they wanted to sell this summer. The North Londoners were looking to go through a spring clean this summer but despite transfer listing nine players, Spurs eventually only let four players leave the club.

Christian Eriksen, Toby Alderweireld, Danny Rose, Moussa Sissoko, and Serge Aurier were all linked heavily with moves away but in the end, no move materialized. Rose, Aurier, and Sissoko were transfer listed by the club alongside Georges-Kevin N’Koudou, Vincent Janssen, and Kieran Trippier with the latter the most high profile summer sale. But with the Premier League’s transfer window closing before the season starts and it caused a few problems for Tottenham.

Both Christian Eriksen and Toby Alderweireld were heavily linked with a move away especially after the Premier League window closed but eventually opted to stay. However, Spurs Chairman Daniel Levy has now revealed that the club were unable to sell the players that they wanted to sell this summer. The Tottenham chairman even went on to add that the North London club were one of the biggest spenders from the Premier League.

“Tottenham had been one of the biggest spenders among Premier League clubs in the recent transfer window. It had also not generated all the sales the club hoped for. DL reiterated just how difficult it is to get a transfer over the line. In 90 per cent of instances either a buyer could not be found for a player or the player did not wish to join the club that had expressed an interest in buying them,” said Levy to Tottenham Hotspur Supporters' Trust.
