Tiemoue Bakayoko has signed for his former club AS Monaco on a season-long loan spell. The Frenchman struggled to make a significant impact at Chelsea over the last few years, spending last year at AC Milan, and is now set to leave Stamford bridge again, albeit with an option to buy.

According to BBC, Europa League champions Chelsea and AS Monaco have agreed on a loan deal, which will see Tiemoue Bakayoko return to the club he left two years ago. The 25-year-old midfielder, who has only one cap for the French national team and arrived at Stamford Bridge in a £40m transfer in July 2017, back when Antonio Conte was in charge of the Blues.

The former AS Monaco star arrived on the back of the 2016/17 Ligue 1 campaign, where he played a key role alongside Kylian Mbappe, Bernardo Silva, Thomas Lemar and even Rony Lopes, to help Monaco beat PSG to the league title. However, the Frenchman struggled to adapt to life in the Premier League and had underwhelming performances.

Bakayoko was sent out on loan last season to Serie A side AC Milan, where he re-ignited his career, doing well for the Rossoneri. But his falling out with then Milan manager Gennaro Gattuso, saw the club opt not to make the move permanent. The Frenchman’s loan move to the Principality side will see him reunite with former Chelsea midfielder Cesc Fabregas, who moved to Stade Louis II in January.
