Coventry City suffered a 2-1 home defeat to Burnley, denting their Championship play-off push. Haji Wright scored early, but Jaidon Anthony netted twice for Burnley. Frank Lampard was sent off post-match and could face a touchline ban. Coventry dropped to 7th, one point behind sixth-place Bristol City, despite a strong turnaround under Lampard since November.

After being the driving force behind Coventry City's Championship resurgence, Frank Lampard endured a tough afternoon as his side fell 2-1 to Burnley in a crucial play-off clash. The Sky Blues had a perfect start with Haji Wright scoring in the 5th minute, but Burnley hit back quickly through Jaidon Anthony in the 16th. A second-half defensive mix-up between Liam Kitching and Brad Collins gifted Anthony his second, handing Burnley all three points.

Tempers flared after the final whistle, and Lampard was shown a red card by referee James Bell for confronting the officials. As a result, assistant manager Joe Edwards addressed the media, emphasizing the team's strong performance despite the loss. The defeat dropped Coventry to seventh in the table, one point behind Bristol City, who beat Watford 2-1.

Lampard, who replaced Mark Robins in November when Coventry were 17th, has lifted the club into play-off contention, losing just seven times in that span. Under him, the team also achieved their best nine-game run in 55 years. Midfielder Matt Grimes praised Lampard’s coaching, noting the professionalism and attention to detail he brings to the training ground. However, the touchline ban now looming could hinder Coventry’s play-off push.
