Manchester United plan to keep Kobbie Mainoo despite Chelsea interest, valuing him at £70 million. Meanwhile, Alejandro Garnacho exit remains likely, with Napoli failing to meet the €65 million (£54.8m) fee and salary demands in January. United aim to use potential funds for targets like Matheus Cunha (£62.5m clause) and Ipswich Liam Delap (£30m clause).

When the 2025 summer transfer window approached, Manchester United found themselves at the center of major transfer speculation involving two of their brightest young talents—Alejandro Garnacho and Kobbie Mainoo. Garnacho nearly left the club in January, with Chelsea and Napoli both expressing serious interest. Napoli failed to meet United's reduced asking price of €65 million (£54.8m), and Garnacho’s high wage demands further complicated negotiations. His departure remains "highly possible" this summer if a suitable deal can be agreed upon.

On the other hand, United are increasingly confident of retaining Mainoo, despite Chelsea’s earlier approach. The 20-year-old, who still has three years left on his contract, is reportedly not keen on signing a new deal, yet United are now optimistic he will stay. Valued at £70 million, Mainoo’s sale was once considered a way to address financial pressures related to the Premier League's Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR).

Manager Ruben Amorim is planning a squad rebuild and has identified Matheus Cunha of Wolves as his priority target for the No.10 role, aiming to trigger his £62.5m release clause. Additionally, United are eyeing Ipswich striker Liam Delap, who could be available for £30m if the club faces relegation.
