Rasmus Hojlund Goal Drought Frustrates Manchester United Coaches

Manchester United coaches are losing patience with Rasmus Hojlund, who hasn't scored in 16 consecutive games and has only two Premier League goals this season. Signed for £64 million from Atalanta in 2023, Hojlund has scored just 7 goals in 33 appearances. Coach Ruben Amorim has frequently substituted him, fueling speculation about a new striker signing.

For the 2024–25 season, Manchester United coaches are growing frustrated with Rasmus Hojlund due to his prolonged goal drought. The 22-year-old striker has gone 16 games without scoring, last finding the net on December 12. So far, he has managed only seven goals across all competitions, with just two in the Premier League.

United signed Hojlund from Atalanta in July 2023 for £64 million, potentially rising to £72 million, despite initially capping their offer at £60 million. While he had a respectable first season, scoring 16 goals in 2023–24, his current form has been underwhelming. He has failed to score in 27 of the 33 matches he's played this season.

Head coach Ruben Amorim, who took charge in November, has shown his disappointment, substituting Hojlund ten times and allowing him to complete a full 90 minutes only five times. During United's recent 1-0 loss to Tottenham, coaches were particularly critical of his performance, while fans ironically cheered his substitution during the 2-0 defeat at Everton.

With United's goal difference at -7 and their attacking struggles evident, a move for a more prolific striker in the summer transfer window now seems inevitable.
