Manchester United's £62.5m bid for Brentford’s Bryan Mbeumo has been rejected, with Brentford demanding a higher upfront fee. Mbeumo, who scored 20 goals and provided 8 assists in the 2024-25 season, only wants to join United. However, comparisons with recent high-priced transfers like Joao Pedro have strengthened Brentford's stance, stalling the deal.

For the second summer in a row, Manchester United find themselves locked in a tense transfer saga, this time with Brentford over the signing of Bryan Mbeumo. United have made the French winger their top attacking target after securing Matheus Cunha for £62.5 million. However, negotiations with Brentford have stalled, despite two bids, the latest being £55 million plus £7.5 million in add-ons being rejected.

Brentford now wants a higher total package with at least £60 million paid up front. Their stance has been influenced by recent high-value deals, including Chelsea’s £60 million swoop for Joao Pedro and Newcastle’s £55 million bid for Anthony Elanga. Brentford believes Mbeumo, who tallied 20 goals and 8 assists in the Premier League last season, is a superior asset.

With 28 goal contributions in 2024-25 and consistent returns in previous seasons, 17 G/A in 2022-23 and 16 in 2023-24, Mbeumo has proven his top-flight pedigree. Despite the setback, Manchester United remain focused on the deal, though they must significantly raise their third offer to stand a chance. Brentford are clear and unless their valuation is met, Mbeumo will remain part of Keith Andrews’ plans.
