Alejandro Garnacho is close to a £45 million transfer to Napoli after falling out with Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim. The 20-year-old was excluded from pre-season training following a Europa League final snub. Napoli, who already signed De Bruyne and McTominay, are in talks as United lower their £60 million asking price.
Coming to the ongoing transfer saga surrounding Alejandro Garnacho, Napoli have reignited their interest in the Manchester United winger after a failed £60 million bid in January. This time, the Italian champions have returned with a reduced £45 million offer, hoping to capitalise on Garnacho's fallout with new United boss Ruben Amorim. The 20-year-old Argentine is one of five players asked to stay away from pre-season training after expressing a desire to leave.
United, who had valued Garnacho at £60 million, now realise they may have to settle for less, especially after his public criticism of Amorim for being benched in the Europa League final loss to Tottenham. Garnacho had featured in every round before that and played just 20 minutes in the final. His post-match comments reflected frustration, calling the season disappointing and questioning the team’s lack of goals and consistency.
Napoli are eager to bring him in alongside recent signing Kevin De Bruyne and last season’s Serie A Player of the Season, Scott McTominay. Club president Aurelio De Laurentiis believes Garnacho will thrive away from the pressures at United, claiming the environment at Old Trafford has stifled his potential. Negotiations between the clubs remain ongoing.
