Djeidi Gassama, now with Rangers, recalled his PSG days training alongside Neymar, Messi, and Mbappe. Though he played just once for the senior team, he learned the importance of hard work and commitment. After scoring 7 goals for Sheffield Wednesday, he signed a four-year deal with Rangers for a reported £2.2 million.
For the 21-year-old winger Djeidi Gassama, training with football legends Lionel Messi, Neymar, and Kylian Mbappe at Paris Saint-Germain was nothing short of surreal. Promoted from PSG's Under-19 side, Gassama made just one appearance for the first team but recalls the experience as “crazy.”
He shared with Rangers TV that watching how those superstars trained, both in the gym and on the pitch, taught him the value of giving 100 percent every single day. He said that training alongside them felt like playing in an actual match due to the intensity and professionalism they brought. After leaving PSG, Gassama moved to Sheffield Wednesday where he found more opportunities to grow.
In the Championship last season, he scored seven goals and described his two years in English football as an important period of development. It allowed him to gain valuable playing time and mature as a professional.
Now, the young French winger has signed a four-year contract with Rangers in a deal worth around £2.2 million. With a strong grounding in elite football environments and recent success in England, Gassama arrives in Glasgow with high expectations and valuable lessons from his early days training among some of the sport’s greatest names.
