Raheem Sterling is set to leave Chelsea for a Champions League club abroad after a poor 2024-25 loan spell at Arsenal, where he failed to score in the Premier League and made just seven starts. With two years left on his contract, Chelsea are open to selling him for £20 million as part of their summer clear-out.
When the 2024-25 season ended, Raheem Sterling's career seemed to hit another low. After a disappointing loan spell at Arsenal where he failed to score a single Premier League goal and made only seven starts, the 30-year-old winger returned to Chelsea. However, he wasn’t included in the Blues' squad for the Club World Cup, signalling his uncertain future at Stamford Bridge.
Now, Sterling is set for a fresh start abroad, with interest coming from a Champions League club outside England, according to The Athletic. Despite having two years left on his Chelsea contract, the club is reportedly willing to let him go for just £20 million ($27 million). The move comes after a tough couple of years since his transfer from Manchester City in 2022, where he struggled to make an impact both at Chelsea and on the international stage, having last played for England during the 2022 World Cup.
Sterling began pre-season training with Chelsea recently but looks increasingly likely to exit as the club plans to offload several out-of-favour players. Chelsea is also aiming to bring in RB Leipzig’s Xavi Simons before the transfer window shuts. The Blues begin their new Premier League campaign against Crystal Palace on August 17.
