Ralf Rangnick Questions Bayerns Timing on Kane Transfer

Ralf Rangnick believes Bayern Munich should have signed Harry Kane at 18 or 20 instead of spending €100 million at age 30. Despite Kane winning the Bundesliga and scoring 83 goals in 93 games, Rangnick criticized the lack of resale value and urged clubs to invest in younger talent for long-term returns.

After the 2023 transfer of Harry Kane to Bayern Munich for €100 million, former Manchester United manager Ralf Rangnick has expressed doubts over the timing of the move. Rangnick believes that Bayern should have targeted Kane much earlier in his career, around age 18 or 20, rather than signing him at 30, when the chances of recouping the transfer fee are slim.

Despite the criticism, Kane has delivered results on the field. Since joining Bayern, he has scored an impressive 83 goals in 93 matches and helped the team win the Bundesliga title, ending his long-standing trophy drought. His impact in the dressing room has also been praised, contributing to a positive team environment.

However, Rangnick points out that Bayern failed to win the German Cup and the Champions League, suggesting that the investment hasn't yet yielded full returns. He reiterated that his strategy would have been to scout and sign young talent with long-term potential and higher resale value. As Bayern prepare to face Benfica in their next Club World Cup fixture, the spotlight remains on Kane to deliver more silverware. Whether this high-profile move ultimately pays off remains to be seen over the next two seasons.
