Manchester United are nearing their first signing of the summer with Matheus Cunha reportedly agreeing to personal terms. The £62.5 million-rated Wolves attacker is expected to join Ruben Amorim rebuild at Old Trafford. Cunha, also targeted by Arsenal, would likely play alongside Bruno Fernandes in a revamped attack under Amorim 3-4-2-1 system.

When the summer transfer window opens, Manchester United are expected to kick off their rebuild under Ruben Amorim with the signing of Matheus Cunha from Wolves. Reports suggest the deal is already in its final stages, with personal terms nearly agreed and United ready to trigger his £62.5 million release clause. This would make Cunha the first official signing of the Amorim era, as the club looks to overhaul the squad after a disappointing domestic season, where they currently sit 14th in the Premier League table.

Cunha, 25, has attracted interest from Arsenal as well, but United appear to be leading the race. The Brazilian attacker, valued at €55 million on Transfermarkt, is expected to slot into one of the two attacking midfield roles in Amorim’s preferred 3-4-2-1 formation, playing alongside Bruno Fernandes. With players like Antony, Garnacho, and Rashford all potentially leaving due to Financial Fair Play constraints, signing Cunha is viewed as a critical move to maintain attacking depth.

Gary Neville recently pointed out that United need at least five new players to support Amorim’s system, including quality wing-backs and attackers. Securing Cunha early in the window could give United the momentum they need for a transformative summer.
