In our busy schedule, we might miss out on these cool events that we would not like to. So we, at Sportscafe, have decided to bring you the best of them week after week through ‘The Sportsweek That Was’.
So here’s the first edition of 'The Sportsweek That Was' from 15 February to 21 February.
Best Indian Moment of the Week : South Asian Games
188 Gold, 90 Silver and 3 bronze medals is what the Indians won at the 2016 edition of South Asian Games which saw them finish at the top of the medal tally with 308 medals, almost doubling their count of 175 medals in the previous edition of the games in 2010. With all the political commotion going on in India at the moment, atleast 10 Indians channeled their aggression in a productive mission which saw 10 Indian boxers make it a perfect-10 in the boxing category as they swept 10 Gold medals.

Controversial Moment of the Week
In some serious news, former Olympic medalist Park Joo-bong swirled a controversy this week as he came out and stated that none of the Indian women's singles players are ‘skillful’. He went on to say that World Number 2 Saina Nehwal doesn't have the skill but she relies a lot on power and speed. He also said that although PV Sindhu possessed exceptional skill, she relies mostly on power.
Funny Moment of the Week
The Indian Under-19 Cricket team failed to cross the final hurdle at the U-19 World Cup as they came short against West Indies in the final of the tournament. Much has been analyzed about the loss of the Indian team, but we feel that we finally may have unraveled the mystery as to why West Indies managed to win - having Pope John Paul does give you a ‘holy’ advantage.
Hahahaha. Pope John Paul celebrating the WC win :D

Bizarre Moment of the Week
Football
Lionel Messi was in the news again in the world of International Football, but this time is was not for a goal he scored but for one he did not. With Barcelona leading 3-1 against Celta Vigo, Messi assisted Luis Suarez for the Uruguayan’s third goal of the night and the assist was all over social media the next day since it was no ordinary assist. Messi decided to square the ball to Suarez for a tap-in instead of taking the penalty. A small dab at the ball, rolling it into the path of an on-rushing Luis Suarez became the most talked-about thing in Football on a Monday morning.
Many fingers were raised about the audacity of Messi and Barca to do this when the opponents are reeling on the ropes already, but something tells us that neither Messi nor Luis Suarez care much since it was all as per the standard rule book.
