ENG vs IND | Twitter in splits as Mohammed Siraj mocks Joe Root after batter backs off yet again

There is no irritating sight than a batter backing off just as the bowler charges in to deliver the cherry, and Mohammed Siraj was unimpressed with Joe Root repeating the feat. The pacer, in response, mocked the veteran batter, asking whether everything was fine and if he needed more time.

‌England adopted a more cautious approach in place of their usual aggressive Bazball stuff to end day one of the Lord’s Test at 251/4 from 83 overs. Joe Root reached his 37th Test century in the very first ball of the day’s play and looked to extend England’s hold, along with skipper Ben Stokes.

But Indian pacer Jasprit Bumrah, who returned to the side after being rested for the second match, had other plans. The pacer sent back Stokes with a beauty in the third over of the day to end his stubborn 110-ball stay at the crease.

And Mohammed Siraj was pumped up as he came into bowl the next over from the other end with Root looking comfortable. Just as the pacer was about to start his run-up for the fourth ball of the 87th over, the centurion was irked by a movement near the sight screen.

He delayed proceedings, asking the viewer to move away from his eye line as Siraj presented a frustrated look. And just as Siraj started his run-up after the delay, Root stopped the action again to remove something that flew onto the pitch.

This time, Siraj was not going to walk back quietly to his run-up as he desperately walked in towards the batter. The Gujarat Titans pacer mocked Root, asking whether everything was okay or if he wanted more time to get ready.

Twitter was in splits as Siraj walked back to his bowling mark after tickling their funny bone.
