ENG vs IND | Twitter laughs as Gill beams with joy after getting hands on another 'new' Dukes

Like a mini-game you would play on a modern triple-A title, the haggling for a change in the Dukes ball has become a recurring crucial theme in India and England's broader mission to win Tests. Friday at Lord's was no different, as Shubman Gill finally relished a victory against the umpires.
With just a three-over old Dukes ball at their disposal, India seized momentum of the third Test early on Day 2 at Lord's. Jasprit Bumrah in his opening spell sent both incumbent batters Ben Stokes and Joe Root packing before dispatching Chris Woakes for a goolden duck to suddenly leave England reeling at 271/7. However, just when the visitors had begun to dream of folding out the visitors nice and early, the red cherry began to go out of shape as early as the 10th over of its lifetime. Skipper Shubman Gill was quick to get on the case with the umpires and despite succeeding to get a ball change, the issue arose again soon after with the replacement. Mohammed Siraj was heard claiming to the umpires on the stump mic, "no seam, nothing," while Gill burst out on one occasion unsatisfied by the umpires' lac of proactiveness. Yet, when the young captain's pleads were eventually heard, all was forgiven in a jiffy.
In the 99th over of the innings, Akash Deep expressed dissatisfaction with the red cherry prompting the umpires to do a hoop check. The Dukes failed to go through the rings and another replacement was called for which once selected from a briefcase full of options was handed over to Deep. The pacer caught hold of the red cherry with an inquisitive look, but as soon as he checked the seam with two fingers he knew there was hope. Deep promptly handed the ball over to the skipper, who had a similar look of curiosity on his face that immediately gave way to child-like joy. A wide grin enevloped the 25-year-old's face as he ecitedly threw the ball over to the slip cordon, as if thrilled for his mates to have a look at what they had.
Twitterati was thoroughly amused.

Frustration visible on faces — tough calls can shift momentum in Tests! 🧐
Ball change
Ball change drama at Lord’s! 😱 Second new ball lasted just 7 overs, and momentum swings to England after India dominated. Bumrah’s early strikes (Stokes, Root 100) fade as England rebuild. Gill & Siraj proved right? 🏏

Really?
Gill is a little weasel. Thinks he's got Kohli aura. Asked to change the ball, got a shit ball. Kicked off for 5 overs, got the ball changed again, and laughed his head off. No respect for the umpires. India ahead as well. Not a good example to kids watching.

New Learning
New learning for Gill and Team

Never ever change the Ball if it’s new and doing a lot even if it’s out of shape
I dont see it
I don’t see anything wrong with Shubman Gill’s decision to change the ball — any captain would do the same if something felt off with the Dukes. But it’s the umpire’s duty to maintain fairness. If the ball is 10 overs old, the replacement must be of similar condition.
