England’s Joe Root returned to the top of the Test batting charts as per ICC’s latest ranking list on the back of his exploits against India in the third Test at Lord’s. The veteran batter was England’s top scorer in both innings, scoring 104 and 40, respectively, in their 22-run win in London.

‌Joe Root returned to the top of the Test batters’ list as per the International Cricket Council’s latest ranking list. Root played a stellar role in England beating India by 22-runs in the third Test at Lord’s that saw him bypass Harry Brook to reach the top of the batters’ pile. The veteran batter scored his 37th Test Hundred in the first innings before top-scoring for the hosts again with a gritty 40 in the second to help his side take a 2-1 lead in the five-match series.

Meanwhile, Harry Brook went two places below to be third after his underwhelming batting show at the iconic venue, with Kane Williamson in second. The Indian trio of Yashasvi Jaiswal, Rishabh Pant, and Shubman Gill all dropped places to be placed at fifth, eighth, and ninth, respectively, while Jamie Smith retained his place in the top 10.

On the bowling front, Indian pacer Jasprit Bumrah continued his stay at the top of the bowling charts with another impressive display at Lord’s. He picked up seven wickets in the game, including a five-wicket haul in the first, to etch his name on the honours board of the iconic venue for the first time in his career.

Meanwhile, Ravindra Jadeja continues to lead the all-rounders’ charts in the ICC Test rankings with his fourth consecutive fifty this series.
