ZIM vs NZ | Twitter reacts as Madhevere sees his stumps go flying

SportsCafe Desk

Seeing the batters' stumps uprooted is always a great sight for a bowler as he has to execute the perfect delivery to ensure the ball crashes into the wickets. Kiwi fast bowler Adam achieved exactly that in Harare on Friday with the dismissal of set Zimbabwean batter Wessly Madhevere.

‌Zimbabwe's struggles in the tri-series continued, against New Zealand at Harare Sports Club, as the batters failed to get going after being asked to bat first. Though there was some intent shown in the initial four overs of the powerplay by the openers, the hosts found it diffidicult to consistently score runs as the pacers came back in the last two overs, and the spinners continued to put pressure in the middle overs. The only batter who tried to hold the innings together was Wessly Madhevere, who was set at the crease with 36 runs off 32 deliveries. However, his innings came to an end in the 13th over, bowled by Kiwi express pacer Adam Milne.

Milne was slightly expensive in his first two overs of the game, which went for 15 runs at an economy of 7.5. Yet, in his third, Milne struck on the first ball of the over with a hard length ball as Madhevere backed away from the stumps, trying to carve it over the offside field. Unfortunately for him, the opener missed the delivery completely as it crashed into his stumps and sent his leg stump cartwheeling in the end.

The Kiwis were ecstatic while Twitterati was quick to commend the delivery.
