SL vs BAN | Injured Sri Lankan pacer Milan Rathnayake to miss second Test

Sri Lanka pacer Milan Rathnayake will miss the second and final Test against Bangladesh in Colombo on Wednesday. The pacer, who picked up four wickets and scored 39 runs in the last match, will be out of action with a side strain with Vishwa Fernando being named as his replacement.
Rathnayake had a match haul of 4/65 and also scored 39 runs in the drawn first Test against Bangladesh in Galle last week. The pacer, who made his debut in the first Test of the England tour last year, has a tally of 14 wickets from five matches at an average of 28.07 and a strike rate of 49.2. He has also scored 190 runs from six innings in Tests averaging a healthy 31.66.
With veteran all-rounder Angelo Matthews retiring from Test cricket after the first match, Dunith Wellalage also comes into the squad in the former’s place. The left-arm spinner played his only Test against Pakistan in Galle in July 2022 and is in contention to feature again after a gap of close to three years.
The second Test between Sri Lanka and Bangladesh will start on Wednesday, June 25th at the Sinhalese Sports Club Ground in Colombo.
