Wrexham recently secured Championship promotion and may look to add experienced players like Sterling.
When the final whistle blew at Stamford Bridge on Saturday, Chelsea had secured a vital 1–0 win over Everton, thanks to a first-half strike from Nicolas Jackson, who ended his goal drought in 2025. However, it was goalkeeper Robert Sanchez who truly saved the day, producing several crucial second-half stops to preserve the lead. Defender Trevoh Chalobah also impressed and was a standout performer, having been recalled from a loan earlier this season.
Off the pitch, Chelsea are already planning for the summer transfer window, with multiple sales expected as Raheem Sterling, who has just one year left on his contract and reportedly earns over £300,000 per week, is likely to be among those sold and Former Chelsea and Arsenal midfielder Emmanuel Petit suggested that Sterling could be a target for Ryan Reynolds' Wrexham, who were recently promoted to the Championship.
Petit noted that while Sterling is no longer at his peak, Wrexham would need to offer a significant financial package to secure him. As Chelsea look to trim their squad and wage bill under Enzo Maresca, Sterling’s exit could be part of a broader clear-out, with the club aiming to make space for new arrivals ahead of the 2025–26 season.
