Erling Haaland scored 31 goals in 44 games this season but fell short of his usual standards. Following City's final match, he told chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak he would skip vacation to focus on next season. Determined to return stronger, Haaland wants to help City bounce back after a challenging campaign marked by injury and criticism.
In the 2024–25 season, things didn't go as planned for Manchester City striker Erling Haaland. Despite finishing the campaign with 31 goals and four assists in 44 appearances, it was seen as a dip in form compared to his previous two seasons—38 goals in 45 games in 2023–24 and a record-breaking 52 goals in 53 appearances in 2022–23. Haaland also struggled with injuries, missing several matches due to an ankle issue.
After scoring in City’s 2–0 win over Fulham on the final day, Haaland reportedly told club chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak he had no interest in taking a vacation and instead wanted to focus on recovery and preparation for the 2025–26 season. Al Mubarak praised the hunger shown by Haaland and his teammates, noting that even Rodri was eager for more football.
Haaland’s mindset reflects a desire to bounce back strongly after a below-par year by his standards, especially after criticism from pundits like Alan Shearer. Determined to return to top form, the 24-year-old is focused on helping Pep Guardiola’s side regain their dominance, particularly against rivals like Liverpool in the next campaign.
