Andy Murray raring to go at Dubai Tennis Championships

A fit-again World No.1 Andy Murray is ready to make a comeback to the court at the Dubai Tennis Championships after a five-week layoff due to a bout of shingles. The Briton had not played competitive tennis since a shock fourth-round exit to Mischa Zverev at the Australian Open.

Andy Murray is ranked as the top seed at the Dubai Tennis Championships and will begin his campaign today and will play Tunisian world number 47 Malek Jaziri in his first round game. The Scot will partner Serbian Nenad Zimonjic to play in the double's event and take on fellow Brit Dan Evans and Gilles Muller of Luxembourg in their first match.

"I'm fine now. I've been training flat-out for the past few weeks. I was a bit sick for 10 days, a couple of weeks, after I got back from Australia," Murray told BBC.

He added, "I feel fresh and ready to go here. I had shingles. It's not terrible, but it's not great. I had to go easy for a little while, so I wasn't able to push that hard in training when I got back into it."

A number of other top-ranked players are also participating in the $2,503,810 prize money tournament. Australian Open champion Roger Federer will play his opening match against Frenchman Benoit Paire, whereas US Open champion Stan Wawrinka takes on Bosnia's Damir Dzumhur in the first round.
